Synopsis
"School 2021" follows the life and growth of students at a vocational high school, including Gong Ki-Joon (Kim Yo-Han) and Na Geum-Young.
Gong Ki-Joon was once a taekwondo player and he won the bronze medal at the National Athletics Competition, but he had a serious ankle injury. Around this time, his father's business went bankrupt. Gong Ki-Joon quit taekwondo and he entered the vocational high school. He has a mature personality for his age, but he doesn't know what do in front girls he likes.
Na Geum-Young is a 2nd grade student at the vocational high school. She wants to become a Youtuber and she is studying cooking at the vocational school. Her father runs a karaoke room on the outskirts of the town.
Notes:
- "School 2021" takes over KBS2's Wed. & Thu. 21:30 time slot previously occupied by "Dali and Cocky Prince."
- Based on novel "Oh, Naui Namjadeul!" by Lee Hyun (published May 20, 2011 by Munhak Dongne).
- Early working title was "Oh, Naui Namjadeul" ("Oh, My Men").
- Ahn Seo-Hyun was first offered the lead female role, but could not come to an agreement with production company SR Pictures.
- Kim Sae-Ron was offered the lead female role, but declined.
- Ep.1 air date was originally scheduled to air November 17, 2021, but was changed to November 24, 2021. An extra tested positive for COVID-19 on November 13, 2021, causing all staff and cast to be given tests. Actor Kim Yo-Han tested positive, hence the delay in broadcasting ep.1.
